The problem

An edtech business approached us to grow their online business. There were a few challenging issues: there had never been a solid SEO strategy in place, and there were a few different domains for the same business, in different languages… and a new version of the website was being deployed without SEO as the centrepiece.

SEO specialists know this is a recipe for a potential catastrophe!

We’ve been onboard all the way with them. From the initial strategy to the post-launch fixes and the blog deployment: it’s been five years of effort!

The trickiest was the push for merging the domains together into one with the new website deployment, which involved an extremely complex migration process.

In our past corporate lives, we migrated dozens of websites to their new version across the globe… It’s simply experience built upon months of repeated work that lead to a perfect rollout plan for website migration.

The results: We started at 180k users/month on average, we’re on the way to 1.5M!

Going beyond and above...

Beyond the migration, we also had to create and execute an SEO strategy. This involved optimising the website in both content and technical aspects. We didn’t work alone – we had stellar support from their content and developer teams, which is the reason we achieved greatness.

A bit more than two years later, we ranked #1 for “cours d’anglais en ligne” (“online English course” in French) among other business critical keywords. We were in front of much larger competitors – that was when we knew our strategy paid off.

We have helped FTSE100 companies, but also small startups and local businesses grow their online business. However, we’re sorry we’re rather picky when it comes to SEO. We see SEO as a very long-term play, and we want to work with clients who understand the importance of it.

We will happily elevate you and your team as needed because we can only achieve great things if we’re in SEO together. If we can’t be in together, we can’t work.

We aim to be partners who care about your business: if something doesn’t seem good for you, it’s definitely not good for us, so we’ll let you know.

At L’atelier Lapin, we speak three languages: English, French (native) and Japanese (native). We have additional support capabilities for these three languages, and naturally, we’re most comfortable with them.

With that being said, in our corporate lives, we were also working in languages we didn’t and still don’t speak (with the appropriate language support!). We actually hold language degrees, so we’re not quite scared! If you provide language support, we can work in any market.

You’re going to hate the answer: it depends, but it’s never going to be immediate. If you were expecting us to promise you it’ll happen tomorrow, you’re not at the right place, sorry. While we will do our best to deliver the best performance we can, we will never promise results: this is part of the risk of working in the industry.

We’re not SEO wizards / gurus / ninjas / superheroes, and to be fair, no one is. We only know how to do things properly, and it’ll take the time it’ll have to take.

We’re looking for sustainable, long-term working relationship, not a quick cash grab. Incidentally, we’ve been with our first client for over 5 years now!

We’re a tiny agency of two people – we like to call ourselves a workshop (hence L’atelier Lapin). We can afford the extra attention for our clients and their needs. While we would love to grow and hire, we will never ever outsource our SEO or PPC services. At worst, if you’re asking something we don’t/can’t do, we’ll let you know and/or refer you to someone.

Everything is done in-house at L’atelier Lapin. We wouldn’t be a workshop otherwise!

When it comes to content, we write recommendations so that your designated writer/translator can work with. Once they have completed the work, we will review to ensure the recommendations are applied.

While we can write/translate (in some languages!), we won’t be doing it. It’ll be cheaper for you to find a specialist: we don’t want to waste your money, even if you insist!

If there’s anything we can fix quickly, we’ll do it, but it’s best you have a specialist to take care of complex tasks.

We’ll identify technical SEO issues for you, but when it comes to fixing them, we highly recommend you having your usual website developers to look at the problems we find.

Solid no from us, sorry! We don’t deal with backlinks. While we understand their potential importance, we’re not specialised in backlink acquisition. We recommend focussing on high-quality, genuine backlinks rather than quantity however.

We only do on-page and technical SEO, as we have always done.

Another no from us! We understand blackhat SEO can work, but we absolutely don’t recommend blackhat SEO if you’re looking to grow a business sustainably.

If you’re looking for a high-risk quick cash grab, you can go for it – but we can’t help you with that, sorry.

Great question! It’s purely a business decision. We’re absolutely not trying to rank #1 for “Search Engine Optimisation Consultation” because:

  1. 100% of our past and current clients come from direct traffic and referral.
  2. We wouldn’t have the capacity to handle many leads anyway!
